The colony is located within city boundaries. Inmate numbers: 2200 people
Built in 1952, the colony is the most accessible. It
was formerly regarded as a demonstration colony. It is
constantly visited by representatives of charities and religious organizations. The
inmates and staff are favourably inclined towards journalists, and articles about it are
sometimes published in the press.
The Children's Home is particularly important. It contains the children (up to three
years) of women sentenced, and receives aid as a matter of priority. A custodial board
under the colony administration plays a notable role
here.
According to statistics, 14% of the inmates were sentenced for murder, 37% for theft,
3.3% for economic crimes and 2% for repeated offences.
